The National - Abu Dhabi Media Company's f irst English newspaper was born out of a vision that recognises the key role that a free, professional and enlightened press plays in national development. Headed by Martin Newland as Editor in Chief!. The National was launched in April 2008 as an 8O-page quality broadsheet to provide the country's first genuinely national and international newspaper produced in the United Arab Emirates,put together by more than 250 reporters and writers based in the seven emirates of the UAE and in foreign bureaux throughout the world. Newland as Editor in Chief!. The National was launched in April 2008 as an 8O-page quality broadsheet to
provide the country's first genuinely national and international newspaper produced in the United Arab Emirates,put together by more than 250 reporters and writers based in the seven emirates of the UAE and in foreign bureaux throughout the world.
Leading the region in analytical content and comment, the editorial stall was drawn from leading publications in the UK, America and around the world, with section editors from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal.
Reuters, the Press Association and British broadsheets The Times and The Daily Telegraph. The editorial is
supported by internationally acclaimed photographers and photo journalists.
In its first year, The National has won 21 international awards for design and developed an indisputable reputation for excellence appealing specifically to business leaders, decision makers and other high net worth, educated professioflals across government, business and the arts.
